MUTHURAJAWELA MANGROVE FOREST AND BOAT RIDE

‘Swamp of Royal Treasure’, Muthurajawela marsh is a gem of flora and fauna in Sri Lanka. Visiting Muthurajawela mangroves will be worth as you can witness rare species of colorful birds and animals in a soothing and calm atmosphere. A trip in a boat through the Dutch Canal to the swamp will calm your mind and soul. The sound and sight of Muthurajawela marsh will make you fall in love with nature. A staff from Muthurajawela Marsh Centre will be assigned to guide through the wetlands for the perfect exploration. This will be followed by a city tour through Colombo city which will give you a brimming experience of culture and traditions existing in Colombo. You will get to experience a wonderful journey through nature’s aisle and city tour in one day.

Itinerary  Our team will guide you to Muthurajawela Wetlands which is 30km away from Colombo city.  This wetland is very close to Colombo International Airport.

Muthurajawela Boat ride The expeditions at Muthurajawela will be only by the means of boat rides. We will take you through these boat safaris with experienced boatmen. The boat safari will take you down along the Dutch Canal and Negombo Lagoon, which will then lead to the bordering mangroves. The boat ride through the Muthurajawela marsh will take a total of two hours.

Muthurajawela Bird Sanctuary Wetland of Muthurajawela is declared as Bird sanctuary as it is home to varieties of species of birds and animals.  This has 200 species of vegetation and more than 80 species of native birds. You can have a close look at this complex ecosystem by riding through the canal.

 Colombo city tour After an amazing boat ride through Muthurajawela, our team will take you for a city tour to Colombo.  You will be taken to many landmarks of Sri Lanka to explore down the lane of rich history and culture of Sri Lanka.

• Gangarama Seema Malakaya – Gangaramaya Temple is the center for the most extravagant Vesak festivals in Colombo and Navam Perahara in February each year. Seema Malakaya Meditaion Center – Designed by the renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa and run by Gangaramaya Temple this small but eye catching meditation center is famous for it’s bronze Thai Buddha statues.
• National Museum, where you can watch some aspects of the history and culture of Sri Lanka.

    • Pettah – The chaotic Pettah markets definitely worth a visit to see the ordinary disorderliness. Pettah market is an amazing experience for bargain shoppers. It’s noisy, sticky, smelly, hot and crowded with it’s narrow streets and shops and stalls of merchandise.
